A487 crash: Women who died in horror lorry and car smash were mum and daughter

The two women killed in a crash in Wales earlier today were mother and daughter.

The two adult women lost their lives after the red Volkswagen Polo they were in impacted with a lorry this afternoon.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, both the woman driving the car and a woman who was a passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Daily Post reported.

Specially trained officers were supporting the family of the women.

Neither of the two women have yet been named.

Police have urged any witnesses and especially those with dash cams to come forward.

Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Sadly this is being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts remain with the family of those who died.

"They will now be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

“I am urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who was travelling along the A487 just prior to the collision and who may have dash cam footage to come forward.

"We now need to piece together what happened, so anybody who has information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact us urgently.”
