A46 closed in both directions after tractor and lorry crash

Pictures have been released showing the aftermath of a crash between a lorry and tractor on the A46.

The collision has taken place on the busy dual carriageway at around 11am on Monday, October 11.

Highways England has released pictures at the scene, showing a tractor which has flipped onto its roof after the crash - there is also extensive damage to the front of a lorry.

Crews are currently working at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "The A46 in both directions at Antsey to Birtsall, three lanes are closed due to a collision.

"Traffic officers and are currently at scene East Midlands Ambulance Service, recovery and contractors are on their way to assist.

"Due to the nature of this collision it is likely to take some time to clear up.

"We will keep our feed updated as and when we make more progress and are able to reopen more lanes."

Recovery is now taking place of the vehicles involved, Highways England has confirmed.
