A4174 Ring Road: 'Massive' car crash on the new through-roundabout

Emergency services were called to attend a two-vehicle collision on A4174 Ring Road in the late hours of yesterday evening (June 9).

On arrival, fire crews from Kingswood administered first aid to a woman, who later made her own way to the hospital for further treatments while all others had self-rescued. The crash happened on the troubled new through-rounabout, which has experienced a number of serious crashes since opening last year.

A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Kingswood were called at 23:07 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A4174 Ring Road between Woodstock and Deanery Road.

"On arrival, crews found a collision between two vehicles. All persons had self-rescued prior to our arrival. Firefighters issued first aid to one woman at the scene, she then made her own way to hospital. Police colleagues were also on the scene."

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "“We were called to a two-car collision at the Wraxall Road roundabout at about 11pm last night (9 June).

“The road was closed for approximately two hours while recovery and repair work was carried out.”

One witness told Bristol Live: "There has been a VERY bad crash on the through-about. Imagine spending £8 million on a road going through a roundabout, what a massive waste of money." Another witness said: "Another massive car crash on the through-roundabout in Warmley."

Residents have previously slammed the new through-roundabout as 'dangerous'.

It's understood the road was closed for a number of hours.
