A4 crash: Man dies and three arrested after 'three-car' smash in west London

A man has died after a crash involving up to three cars on the busy A4 in west London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Great West Road, near the Hammersmith Flyover, in the early hours of Friday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene following the smash on the westbound carriageway at about 1.40am.

The westbound carriageway of the A4 remained closed around the scene of the collision this morning.

Three men, believed aged in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. They have all been taken to hospital.

London Fire Brigade also attended.

A Met Police spokesman said: “At this early stage it is thought three cars were involved in the collision.

“Three men, believed aged in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving - all have been taken to hospital as a precaution.”

There have been no reports of any other serious injuries, he added.
