The A38 northbound near junction 22 of the M5 at Brent Knoll is currently closed in both directions following a fatal collision.
Police were called at 5am September 17 to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.
An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "The pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. While formal identification is yet to take place, his/her next of kin have been informed.

"Traffic is being diverted and we expect the road will remain closed until at least midday while collision investigators examine the scene.
