A22 Comber Road closed following crash

A road in Dundonald has been closed following a crash on Tuesday morning.

The A22 Comber Road is closed at Millmount Village and diversions are in place.

Trafficwatch NI said: " #Dundonald - The #A22 Comber road has been closed at Millmount Village following a Road Traffic Collision local diversions are place please allow extra time for your journey."

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the Belfast Road Comber with diversions in place for all traffic travelling between Comber and Dundonald. It is anticipated the road will be closed for some time. Please avoid the area or follow diversions as directed by police."

Meanwhile, a crash on Monday that left four people needing hospital treatment involved a police car and BMW.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service told Belfast Live earlier on Monday evening that one person had to be cut from a vehicle following the collision at the junction of Rosepark on the Upper Newtownards Road.

Four people were then taken to hospital by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

The PSNI has since said the crash involved both a police car and a BMW that was being driven by a member of the public.

Police say enquiries are underway to establish what occurred and anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured it on their dash cam, is asked to call police on the non emergency number on 101, quoting reference number 1558 of 31/05/21.
