North Yorkshire Police retracted the appeal on Tuesday (Picture: PA Archive/PA Images)

Two Good Samaritans have been killed while trying to help a driver of an overturned car in a horror crash on the A20 in Swanley.

Police said the two men, aged 25 and 54, died on Tuesday at about 11am after they were involved in a crash with a silver Mercedes.

Seven other cars were also involved in the smash, and a further six people were hurt.

Following the crash, the road was closed for 12-hours to allow officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit to investigate.

While members of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit carried out an investigation, traffic was brought to a standstill with mile-long queues.

Kent Police are desperate to hear from anyone who may have seen the crash and have appealed for witnesses.

Officers have urged people to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit witness appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk
