A2 Holywood incident: Boy taken to hospital after being hit by vehicle

A boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Co Down this morning.

Emergency services were called to the A2 at Holywood at the lights outside the train station shortly after 8am on Tuesday.

It is understood the young male was struck by a vehicle and then taken to Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital. His injuries have been described as "non-life threatening".

In a statement, the ambulance service said they got a 999 call just before 8.05am on Tuesday, June 4, regarding a incident at Marine Parade, Holywood.

"NIAS dispatched one Emergency crew, one Rapid Response Paramedic, one Doctor and one Officer to the scene," the spokesman said.

"The Charity Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast."
