A2 Bangor Road closed after electricity pole falls

Police are advising motorists to avoid the A2 Bangor Road between Cultra and Seahill because of a fallen electricity pole.

The road has been closed in both directions and diversions are in place.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised the A2 Bangor Road and the Ballygrainey Road, near Seahill, are closed in both directions due to a electricity pole that has fallen.

"Diversions are in place at Whinney Hill and at the Ballymoney Road.

"Please leave extra time for your journey."

A spokesperson for NIE Networks said: "We received reports of a damaged electricity pole on the A2 carriageway at 15.20 this afternoon.

"Our engineers responded immediately and we are working closely with the PSNI. Once our engineers have assessed the situation fully all necessary repairs will be undertaken in due course."
