A1 shut on Sunday night as police searched for missing teenagers in East Lothian

Part of the A1 was closed on Sunday evening while police carried out searches for two missing teenagers.

The busy route was shut in East Lothian, near Haddington, with traffic unable to pass on the north or southbound carriages.

Police Scotland Control Rooms said on social media at 8pm yesterday (Sunday) that the route was off-limits as they dealt with an ongoing incident. The road was reopened shortly before 9.20pm.

Police confirmed this morning that the measure was introduced as officers were looking for two missing teenagers in the area.

They were later traced to the nearby A911.
