A1: Section of carriageway closed due to 'serious' crash

A part of the A1 dual carriageway is closed on Friday morning due to a 'serious' crash.

The southbound lane is closed between Banbridge and Newry Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised that the southbound lane of the A1 Banbridge to Newry Road is currently closed due to a two vehicle road traffic collision.

"Diversions are in place and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes for their journeys."

Another spokesperson added that the carriageway is closed from The Boulevard in Banbridge and traffic is being diverted through Loughbrickland.
