A1 delays in Co Down following two vehicle crash

A section of the A1 in Co Down is blocked following a crash on Friday morning

Both lanes northbound near Loughbrickland are currently impassable.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised that both north bound lanes of the A1 near Loughbrickland are blocked following a two vehicle road traffic collision.

"Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route."

Meanwhile, police have released the name of the man who died after a crash in Antrim on Wednesday.

In a statement issued on Thursday afternoon, the PSNI confirmed that Belfast man Andrew Millar, 32, passed away following the incident on the Ballyhill Road.

A female passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Inspector Patton said: "Shortly before 5.30pm, police received a report of a one vehicle road traffic collision on the Ballyhill Road. Sadly, Mr Millar was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A silver BMW 3 Series was involved in the collision and the Ballyhill Road was closed for a period but has since reopened.

"Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would ask anyone with any information or who may have dash-cam footage to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1481 of 16/06/21.
