A1 central reservation crash sees person rushed to hospital

Emergency services called to crash on the A1 which resulted in a person being taken to hospital.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the incident at 6.18pm today (August 16).

The crash which involved a single vehicle, happened on the northbound side of the road near Newark.

Two teams of fire fighters were called out to assist.

During the incident the car struck the central reservation.

At this stage it is not clear what caused the crash.

On social media, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service posted: "18:18 #tuxfordstn13 and #newarkstn16 attended an RTC on A1 northbound.

"This was 1 car in collision with the central reservation, 1 person was extricated by the fire service and conveyed to hospital #drivetorarrive."

Traffic appears to be moving freely on the road however there has been heavy rain on A46 Southbound between Heath Road and A1 (Newark Showground / Air Museum Turn Off) according to traffic monitoring.
