The most famous plane from The Battle of Britain flew over Hairmyres today to say a special thank you to our NHS heroes.
Hundreds turned out this afternoon to see a Spitfire roar over the hospital.
And photographer Derek McSwan was there to capture the poignant moment.
The World War II plane began flying around the UK during the Clap for Carers campaign while the country was in lockdown and is flying over Scotland this week as part of a national campaign.
The Spitfire is now aiming to take its tribute to the NHS even further with the team behind it hoping to handwrite 80,000 names onto the jet’s blue paintwork.
To do so, they are asking Scots to nominate a deserving person to have their name chosen.

The official Spitfire website post said: “We have finally found a provisional weather window for our biggest trip of the entire NHS Spitfire Project.
“On Wednesday 16th September, we will be taking off from our home base of Duxford Airfield on a 3 day tour of the North of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and North Wales.
“This expedition has required a huge amount of planning and one we are really excited,”
