A woman made a career out of shoplifting and stole £2million worth of items

A shoplifter brazenly revealed how she steals things from shops during an appearance on This Morning.

During the ITV segment on Friday, August 2, Kim Farry revealed how made up to £20,000 a month from shoplifting and even had people working for her.

She started shoplifting when she was just nine years old, Birmingham Live report, in order to help get food for her younger brothers and sisters.

She told hosts Ben Shephard and Rochelle Humes that she moved on to nick designer clothes, jewellery - even an oven - totalling a massive £2million worth of stolen items.

She even took the opportunity to steal an oven, which she described as "luck".

When a perplexed Ben enquired as to how she stole an oven, Kim said: “It was outside MFI. It was just there all boxed up just sitting there outside and we just got it on one of the wheely things and put it in the van.

“It was luck, if it was there, you take it.”

Kim – who has been in prison five times – explained how she would steal clothes, explaining there is an "art" to it.

She said: “The last way I did it was with a foil bag, so everything would go in there with the alarms on and you’d just take the bag out and it won’t set the alarm off because the foil protects the alarm. There’s an art to it.”

She said she quit her thieving ways four years ago to give her daughter Paris a "normal life".

She appeared on the programme to publicise her book, which Kim claimed some of the proceeds would go towards a “charity I will set up to help people like me”.

Some viewers used social media to criticise the segment.

One tweeted: “Why on earth are you giving this shoplifter airtime. She still knows all the tricks of the trade and her ‘excuses’ for taking this path are ridiculous. And she writes a book that she’s plugging.”

A second blasted: “Ewww #ThisMorning where's your standards? That manly prolific thieving skank stole 2 million of stuff...prison 5 times. School hols are you encouraging kids to copy her? Promoting her book ffs what a joke!”

“Why is #thismorning showing a criminal on TV... Telling people how to shoplift... An #art to shoplifting.. How about get a job,” said another.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
