A Wishaw care home has transferred into a winter wonderland

Wishaw care staff are aiming to turn their home into a winter wonderland for residents.

Thornhill House Care Home workers will be spreading some Christmas cheer with a tree, lights and lots of other decorations.

Despite it being a terrible year, Wishaw businesses have dug deep to help and Thornhill owner Jasmine Alkureishi can’t thank them enough.

She said: “I decided with the staff that we had to do something after the year we have had.

“We are a small care home so I got the begging bowl out and asked some local businesses and couldn’t believe the generosity of people.

“One of the companies has donated a tree and we have been able to get lights and even reindeer. It’s just wonderful.

“We also received several donations from local companies which means we have been able to buy a lot of decorations. It will be fantastic once we have got it all finished and I’m sure the residents will love it.”

The winter wonderland at Thornhill has came during a difficult period for care home staff and residents throughout the country with the pandemic putting physical and emotional resources to the limit.

Jasmine added: “The staff deserve a huge thank you for the year they have had.”
