A 'winter village' and Christmas market is heading to Manchester, complete with tequila log cabins, teepees and campfires

A new winter market is heading to Manchester city centre next month, complete with teepees, log cabins and a mini Christmas market.

The Swan Street site that's home to Ramona and The Firehouse will be transformed into a festive winter village.

The existing outside space will be developed with even more shelter to tackle Manchester's winter weather.

The plans include adding cosy Colorado-style log cabins, each with its own fire and chimney, and building more teepees.

The Winter Village will also welcome pop-up stalls from independent traders in its own mini Christmas market.

Running throughout November and December, traders will be able to choose how long they trade for.

Ramona's winter offering will run right through until April 2022, though the festive touches will be scaled back in the new year.

As has been the case since the site first launched this spring, tequila cocktails will still plentiful throughout the cooler months.

But the Winter Village will also see the addition of mulled wines and hot chocolates.

Ramona's signature square Detroit-style pizzas will still be on offer too.

Most recently, the land, which is part of Capital & Centric and the Kamani Property Group's ambitious new 40 Swan Street development, became home to The Firehouse.

The California-inspired restaurant space in the old warehouse building specialises in peri chicken cooked slowly over fire, served alongside fluffy homemade pitta breads, roast potatoes, salads and slaws.

Ramona's head of marketing Andy Windsor said of the Winter Village: "The whole place is going to become a lot warmer!

"We built everything outside initially as we were coming out of lockdown but now we've launched The Firehouse which is inside.

"Ramona now lives in our MOT station too, but we still have the large 280 covers outside which are under teepees.

"The whole plan is to put in walls and roofs and fires and give it a lovely winter feeling.

"It's a seasonal change to make sure that people can keep coming down, having fun, and getting together, but it is Manchester, so we need to make sure people are warm and dry!"

They say the winter offering will be 'Christmas, but good'.

The Winter Village at Ramona will launch on November 4 and remain until December 31.
