A winter tipi is coming to Manchester with ABBA yoga and Yorkshire pudding wraps

A winter tipi is preparing to open at First Street in Manchester, with a busy schedule of events and festive food and drink.

The Lodge will be a 150-capacity Nordic hut serving beers, hot toddies and Yorkshire pudding wraps.

It will also host a series of cultural events, including ABBA yoga and a make-your-own-wrapping-paper workshops.

The family-friendly festive tipi will appear in the square in front of cultural hub Home and is being brought onto site in a collaboration with Gasworks Brewbar.

The programme of events will kick off on October 31 with a Halloween-themed Thriller yoga session, and remain in place until the new year.

Other events at The Lodge will include reggae yoga, life drawing and bike workshops, with local businesses such as drinks expert Into the Gathering Dust taking part.

The winter events programme in the area kicked off earlier this month with the Manchester Folk Festival and will continue this weekend with a Singing in the Rain-themed flashmob on Saturday October 26.

John McHugh, creative and place director at property specialist CBRE, which manages the estate, said: "We’ve worked hard this year to come up with a creative and exciting winter events programme which is reflective of what First Street stands for.

"With the amount of brilliant talent to be found here in Manchester, we were keen to keep things hyper-local."

Steve Pilling, owner of Gasworks, added: "There will be something for everyone at The Lodge, as we’ll be putting on special events for families and also collaborating with our neighbours such as HOME."

The Lodge will officially open on Thursday October 31 and will be in place at First Street until the new year.
