A well-known pub in Cardiff city centre is serving take-out pints

Of all the things we've missed most about lockdown, having a pint in the pub is well up there.

Since boozers shut back in March we've all wondered when we'll again be able to stroll into our favourite watering hole for our favourite tipple.

And one well-loved Cardiff city centre pub has taken matters into its own hands and started serving takeaway pints.

The Traders Tavern on David Street has been serving freshly-poured brews in plastic glasses since earlier this week.

One of Cardiff's few independent pubs left in the city centre, the Traders has been serving punters for 40 years.

Just a stone's throw from the Motorpoint Arena, it's understood to have an off-licence to sell alcohol to take away and is taking advantage.

This is despite First Minister Mark Drakeford not having officially given pubs and restaurants in the hospitality industry the go ahead to reopen - saying only in his lockdown announcement on Friday that discussions were planned "about the potential phased reopening of pubs, cafes and restaurants".

The pub has put several measures in place to ensure social distancing and safe entry and exit while you collect your pint.

These include a strict one-in-one-out policy and a one way system for those coming in, as well as hand sanitising stations and signs reminding customers to adhere to the two metre rule.

While the pub itself didn't wish to comment on its takeaway service, this weekend some drinkers could be seen nursing their pints across the road from the pub (socially distanced, of course).te
