A warning has been issued about ecstasy pills with the Tesla logo on them

A warning has been issued about ecstasy pills with the Tesla logo on them, after hundreds were seized by police in north Manchester.

The super-strength pills, emblazoned with the name of the American car firm, contain up to 300mg of MDMA, police said.

Officers posted a photo of hundreds of the pills laid on a table on the GMP Manchester North Facebook page on Monday.

The triangular-shaped grey tablets have the Tesla logo on the front, and a slit on the back.

Many people end up taking 'dangerous doses' as they don't realise how strong they are, officers have warned.

The post, signed by 'Inspector N', said: "No, these are not official Tesla merch.

"Our team seized these earlier.

"People need to careful, had loads of pills seized recently some with strength up to 300mg of MDMA.

"This causes problems as some are placebos and people feel the need to take more and then get a dangerous dose."

Drugs testing charity The Loop posted a warning about Tesla pills on Twitter in 2016.

The post about the drugs, which were tested at festival Kendal Calling, said the pills have a 'high and variable content' of MDMA.
