A Very Very Very Dark Matter: First look at Jim Broadbent as Hans Christian Andersen

Images have been released for Martin McDonagh’s new play A Very Very Very Dark Matter, which opens at the Bridge Theatre today.

Jim Broadbent stars as Hans Christian Andersen alongside Phil Daniels, Elizabeth Berrington and Johnetta Eula’Mae Ackles in Matthew Dunster’s production, which runs October 22-December 29.

Taking on the tales of the master storyteller, McDonagh’s latest script delves into the life of the man who created them and the secret dwelling upstairs in his attic.

The twisted show follows in the footsteps of McDonagh’s National Theatre and Broadway hit The Pillowman, which won the Olivier Award for best new play in 2004.

Dunster, who previously directed McDonagh’s Hangmen at the Royal Court Theatre in 2015, is joined by Anna Fleischle on design, Chris Fisher on illusions and George Dennis on sound, with compositions from James Maloney.
