A Very Expensive Poison at the Old Vic: First look at pictures of Lucy Prebble's new play

The first pictures have been released for A Very Expensive Poison at the Old Vic.

Lucy Prebble’s new play tells the story of assassinated Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko, and is an adaptation of Luke Harding’s 2016 investigative book of the same name.

Opening next week at the Old Vic, the play stars Bodyguard actor Tom Brooke as Litvinenko alongside MyAnna Buring, who plays his wife Marina.

Reece Shearsmith, Michael Shaeffer and Lloyd Hutchinson are also among the starring cast, alongside Thomas Arnold, Callum Coates, Marc Graham, Amanda Hadingue, Yasmine Holness-Dove, Robyn Moore, Peter Polycarpou, Sarah Seggari, Gavin Spokes and Bea Svistunenko.

John Crowley directs the production, with design from Tom Scutt, lighting by Mimi Jordan Sherin, sound by Paul Arditti, choreography by Aletta Collins and compositions by Paddy Cunneen.

This is Prebble’s first play since The Effect, which opened at the National Theatre in 2012 starring Billie Piper. Her play ENRON told of the energy company’s financial scandal and collapse.

A Very Expensive Poison runs at the Old Vic until September 28, Old Vic, oldvictheatre.com
