A ‘very competitive’ QB competition is expected in Washington this offseason

We don’t yet know who Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins will be competing with for the starting job come fall, but we do know that he will be competing.

Redskins coach Ron Rivera made that much clear on Thursday when talking to the media at the 2020 NFL Combine. Since the start of his tenure in Washington, Rivera has been adamant that the team likes Haskins a lot, but they aren’t going to give him the QB1 position without making him earn it. Be it by drafting a young quarterback in this years’ draft, or bringing in a veteran QB looking for a fresh start, it’s clear that the quarterbacks’ room will start to fill out as the offseason progresses.

So who should we expect? Earlier this year, we dug into a few potential passers who might potentially make the trip to Washington, and Rivera’s reveal that the team will kick the tires on both Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa could complicate things as well. No matter what happens, though, we know that Haskins will have to earn the starting role in Washington for the 2020 season.
