A two day wine and fizz festival is taking over Manchester Cathedral

A two-day wine and fizz festival is taking over the city's cathedral as part of this year's Manchester Food and Drink Festival.

The event will bring wines from around the world together under one impressive roof at the grade I listed building in October.

The festival will be split into four zones: English Wines, Wines of the World, the Fizz Quarter and a Food Matching area serving accompaniments ranging from artisan cheese, mezze and deli platters to chocolate and patisserie.

The event will showcase some of Manchester's best wine merchants and shops alongside brands from around the world, including Croatian Fine Wines, with an exclusive collection from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Macedonia; 3D wines, who'll be bringing bottles from their French, Italian and New Zealand vineyards.

There'll also be the chance to sample all the winning wines from the 2019 People's Choice Wine Awards.

The £15 ticket price includes a tasting glass and samples from a dozen brands and merchants. There'll also be a number of bars where guests can buy wine by the glass or bottle.

A programme of live music will run throughout each session, as well as a schedule of tutored tastings and masterclasses.

The event takes place at Manchester Cathedral on Friday October 4 and Saturday October 5, split across three sessions: from 6.30pm to 9pm on the Friday; and from 1pm to 4pm, and 6.30pm to 9pm, on the Saturday.
