A 'toy library' has opened its doors to help parents save money

A "toy library" has opened its doors in a new Cardiff shop.

The Honeycomb has been opened on Clare Road in Grangetown by mum-of-two Maia Banks.

To borrow the toys, there is an initial registration fee of £5 and then a monthly donation of £1.50 which allows hire of three toys for a month.

She hopes it will not only encourage children to learn from different types of toys but also families who want to save money.

Her toy store and toy library will also offer arts and crafts sessions and a mum and babies group.

Dad-of-four Moseem Suleman from Grangetown signed up for the toy library.

"I have four young children so buying toys can be expensive."

"Sometimes kids want to buy toys on demand but they don't play with it after a week or two. The toy library is a good idea because the kids can satisfy their desire for a new toy.

"As a parent I know the toys that I buy them they won't play with it for a long time so this toy library is a win-win situation for both parents and children."

He added: "If the kids however like the toy longer than the month agreed in the contract then I can buy it for them. The money then won't be wasted."
