It may only seem like five minutes since Nottingham Forest were bringing the curtain down on their Championship campaign early last month, but the new season is already speeding into focus.
Thursday morning saw the annual fixtures release day, with fans whipping themselves up into a frenzy about midweek trips and games being moved for television coverage, while media types are busy plotting permutations of how each club will secure promotion.
As it is, Forest will get their campaign underway with a home game against last season’s beaten semi-finalists West Brom, followed by an equally tasty-looking clash, this time at Leeds United.
Games against arch-rivals Derby County come in November and April before Martin O’Neill and his Reds finish the season at the City Ground against Stoke City next Spring.
