‘A total win’: This compact $15 Joseph Joseph cutlery organizer instantly tripled space in my small drawer – I wish I'd gotten it years ago

Green kitchen with freestanding wooden and stainless steel breakfast bar island.

The cutlery drawer of my modest kitchen is easily the most annoying space in the room. It’s not deep or wide enough for such a high-function space, and it means it gets jammed, or is a mess, most of the time.

That’s why I am so pleased I tried the $15 compact cutlery organizer from Joseph Joseph, available on offer at Amazon, this week. It instantly tripled the space I have, and meant I could do away with a cutlery tray that was taking up three-quarters of the drawer.

My only regret is not getting it sooner to organize my kitchen drawers. I’ve been living with a cramped cutlery space for absolutely no reason.

Why I love Joseph Joseph’s compact bamboo cutlery organizer

First, it’s smart. Instead of going out width-ways to separate your cutlery, its compartments stack on top of each other in a staggered pattern, meaning you only need a fraction of the width of other kitchen organizers because it’s using vertical height.

Using vertical height for storage is a key small space organizing tip I swear by, so I am kicking myself that I didn’t think of this sooner.

I also think the bamboo looks so nice, and it’s really sturdy. I’ve popped it horizontally in my cutlery drawer, as it won’t fit vertically, so check the dimensions of your drawer to make sure it will fit one way or another.

Re-organizing my cutlery drawer like this has proven to be doubly useful, as it means that now, the horizontal stacking of my items in this space goes from most used at the front to least used at the back.

This includes cutlery at the front, knives behind it in the safe, and a tidy (and very safe) Joseph Joseph bamboo knife organizer, also in bamboo, and then irregularly used items such as chopsticks and medication spoons in the back.

This has also now left space on the right side for larger items that are used regularly, such as can openers, whisks, and scissors.

I’m not the only one who loves this Joseph Joseph cutlery organizer, which is currently on offer on Amazon.

Verified shopper Tiffany rated it five stars, and says, ‘This bamboo silverware holder was exactly what I needed to pull my kitchen drawer – and bamboo theme –

together. It fits perfectly in a tighter drawer space but still offers big pockets that easily hold bulkier utensils and silverware. No more cramming or drawer clutter!

‘I love that it came fully assembled and ready to use right out of the box – just drop it in and go. It’s lightweight, but the build feels sturdy and well-made. The bamboo finish looks clean and modern, and matches the rest of my kitchen vibe beautifully.

‘Functionality-wise, it checks all the boxes: Organized, easy to clean, and space-saving. For the size and quality, the value for money is fantastic. If you’re short on drawer space but don’t want to compromise on style or function, this is a total win.’

What to shop

All prices were correct at the time of publication.

It's not just your cutlery that can be better organized. I've swapped my knife-blunting glass cutting board for Joseph Joseph's wooden trio, available on Amazon, which are vertically stacked and easily stored. It's saved so much space on my counters.

It's a great small home storage idea.
