'A total embarrassment!' - Tottenham fans rage as Antonio Conte drops out of managerial race

Tottenham Hotspur now seem back to square one in their search for a new manager.

The North London outfit had been on the hunt for a new permanent boss since the sacking of Jose Mourinho in April, with former midfielder Ryan Mason having taken the reins.

It appeared as though former Juventus and Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte was all set to step into the hotseat.

Tottenham had been in discussions with the Italian for a number of days.

However, despite promising early signs and it looking likely that he was due to take over at the club, those hopes now appear to have been dashed with Conte having ‘major doubts’ over accepting the job according to Sky in Italy.

Spurs will now have to move onto alternatives, however losing out on the four-time Serie A winner will be a major blow to Daniel Levy and the club.

The disappointment was also felt by Tottenham fans too, who admitted that they were frustrated by the set-back but at the same time, not majorly surprised that a deal has not come to fruition.

They took to social media on Friday evening to express their opinions.

Conte is only the latest in a long line of potential managers to frustrate Spurs in their search for Mourinho’s successor this summer.

Reported target Julian Nagelsmann joined Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig to replace the outgoing Hansi Flick in Bavaria, whilst Erik ten Haag committed to a new deal with Dutch giants Ajax.

There have been domestic candidates in the forms of Brighton’s Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City, although both have distanced themselves from the role in North London.
