Two-year-old girl in serious condition in hospital after falling from car

A toddler is in a serious condition in hospital after ‘falling’ from a car in Lancashire.

The two-year-old girl fell from a BMW X5 as it drove along a roundabout police say.

Officers believe the child was then “possibly” hit by another unknown vehicle.

The little girl suffered a head injury during the incident, which happened in Accrington, at around 12.40am on Sunday morning (November 10).

She is currently in a serious but stable condition at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Lancashire Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, or for anyone who saw the luxury SUV to get in touch.

The BMW X5 was travelling on to the A56 from the Whinfield roundabout at Accrington, police say.

“It is then believed the girl – who is from Nelson - was possibly hit by another unknown vehicle,” a Lancashire Police spokesperson said.

“She suffered a head injury and is in a serious but stable condition at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.”

Sgt Dave Hurst said: “We believe there may have been a white vehicle, possibly a Kia, in the area at the time and we are keen to speak to them.”

Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101, quoting incident reference 0058 of November 10.
