A three bed off-grid cabin in its own woodland is for sale but you can only live there part time

If foraging for food and using nature's energy and woodland bounty to power your property sounds like a way of life to tempt you out of the suburbs, this cabin in the middle of your own woodland may be ideal.

But don't totally pack up your three-bed semi or apartment and get totally back to nature, as this cabin hiding in the trees doesn't currently come with planning to live on-site full time.

It's ideal then if you fancy living the simple life at weekends and school holidays but also enjoy curling up on the sofa to watch a movie or the match in a modern home too.

Located in remote countryside in Carmarthenshire, the wood cabin is nestled amongst 17 acres of woodland and pasture that comes with the sale of the structure.

Imagine strolling along your own country paths down to the beautiful Towy estuary that borders part of the land.

There's even a stream running through the site, making it surely a perfectly idyllic rural retreat.

The sale of the cabin includes pastureland located just a short distance from the woodland, ideal for further developing the smallholding side of the site.

This meadowland is known as Meas-teg and contains around 100 orchard trees planted over the past five years that include quince, mulberry and sweet chestnut.

The cabin is off-grid and is powered by PV panels and a small 12v wind turbine and has battery storage.

The cabin is heated via the abundant amount of fallen wood amongst the 17 acres but there is also a Norwood milling machine on site that comes with the sale.

The current owners use this beast of a machine to cut timber for bartering purposes and the next owner might decide to start selling it too.

Cooking power is also provided by the land's wood.

The rustic cabin has no ensuite off the bedroom but there is a compost toilet that harvests and uses rain water.

After a hard day's work wandering around your woodland, having a picnic by the river or cutting wood using the Norwood, it's time to retire to the cabin.

Up the slope to the enchanting wooden structure and it's as magical inside as it is outside.

The central room is constructed much like a tepee, predominantly circular in shape, rising to a peak in the middle where the central support pole can be found.

The roof is canvas and the ceiling support beams stem from this central pole combined with a network of robust rope.

Every inch of this adorable woodland hobbit house has been utilised.

Pots, pans, baskets and bottles hang from the ceiling beams, wooden shelves cling to each wall and are bursting with jars and bottles.

There is string running from ceiling beam to ceiling beam to provide even more hanging space.

Even the central pole contributes to the storage options, having been wrapped in chicken wire, making it ideal to hang utensils.

The kitchen zone of the cabin is centred around two areas. There is a beautifully-constructed, single-curved wooden worktop that mimics the shape of the room and also provides a handy breakfast bar.

Above this worktop are three portal-style windows, circular, of course, as there are few straight lines in this property.

While you're chopping the carrots grown on your own land you can gaze out over the woodland and marvel at the fact you own 17 acres of glorious Welsh countryside; just be careful not to cut yourself while the view distracts you.

The cabin even has a kitchen island (Housesforsaleinwales.co.uk / rightmove)

The second kitchen area is an island unit in the centre of the circular space, where the wood powered cooking facilities can be found.

Along from the kitchen area is a seating area with two sofa benches that comes complete with a coffee table surely made from the wood of the land.

It is unclear if the free-standing furniture comes with the sale of the cabin, so you might have fun outside with the axe and saw making your own bespoke pieces.

Into the main bedroom and of course there is a charming four-poster bed made from logs to complete the experience of living in a charming woodland cabin, albeit on a part-time basis.

The bedrooms can be found either underneath the main living room, making it a two-storey cabin, and a single-storey construction to one side of the central hub.

Outside, as well as the wood shelter for the cutting machine, the cabin has a sizable greenhouse structure.

This is currently used mainly for propagating new plants from cuttings and providing a home for plants that need shelter over the winter months.

When a new owner is not pottering with plants, chopping wood and maintaining the land surely they will be enjoying the freedom of wandering through their own woods down to the river, with not a car or other people in sight.

It may not currently be allowed to spend every day of the year, but owning this secret escape to the country might be all a new owner needs to take a break from the stresses of every day life.

The cabin and the site, near Llanstaffan, are for sale for £150,000.

The sale has many details to discuss with the estate agent including the shape and location of the three sections of land included, the possibility of buying more or less than the 17 acres and access to the site.
