COVID-19 meant less income for almost a third of Australians in 2020, while nearly a quarter expect they'll earn less in the future according to a survey.
Of 1,000 people aged between 30 and 60, the survey commissioned by life insurance company NobleOak shows the pandemic had a significant impact on the working conditions of 46 per cent of Australians.
But 59 per cent of people expect the pandemic will not affect their work in the future.
The survey, conducted in November 2020, has been released just as official figures show the Australian economy has enjoyed its strongest performance in history over the past six months as it recovers from last year's recession.
The Australian economy grew by 3.1 per cent in the December quarter but still contracted by 1.1 per cent compared to a year earlier.
With the nation's economic recovery dependent on discretionary spending, the survey also had some sobering results.
Almost half (45 per cent) of people are spending less, with almost a quarter (24 per cent) cutting back on entertainment spending.
But the survey also showed 42 per cent of people spent more time with their families, 16 per cent spent more time outdoors, and 17 per cent have improved their fitness.
