A wine bar and dinery in Bruntsfield has issued a message to customers after half of their bookings failed to turn up yesterday (25 August).
Decanter, on Bruntsfield Place, turned away 'dozens' of customers last night who hoped to attend the restaurant because they had been fully booked.
However, they were left with a half-empty venue last night as booking after booking failed to show up.
The team wrote on Facebook last night: "A bit of a sad message to write but we had a terrible night for no shows last night.
"We've been fully booked for over two weeks and half the restaurant didn't turn up. We turned away dozens of people due to being booked and no walk-ins because of the weather.
"Respect your local business and call as soon as you can if you need to cancel. It has a huge impact on places like ours. We don't want to ask for card details when booking but it can't go on like this."

The number of tables not turning up has not only affected Decanter, as other restaurants across the capital told Edinburgh Live that they had seen similar behaviour from would-be diners over the last couple of weeks.
The Rose Street Garden also said that they had experienced around seven no shows per day and said that the gaps are "crippling the industry."
And last week, the owner of Merienda restaurant warned that they would not survive if the wave of no shows continued.
