A temple fair in Bangkok

Don Chedi Monument Fair. TAT Suphan Buri

From Friday to Sunday, the "191st Anniversary Of The Establishment Of Wat Prayurawongsawat" celebrations will take place at the temple in Thon Buri from 5-10pm.

The event will showcase diverse cultures in its nearby Kadee Cheen community. Various local dishes and prized local products will be available for sale. Cultural performances, cooking contests and other activities will be held.

Wat Prayurawongsawat, or Wat Prayoon, was built by Somdej Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawong (Dis Bunnag), a top-level bureaucrat, and later bestowed to King Rama III as a royal temple. The restoration of the temple's 60.5m-high main stupa won the Award of Excellence among the 2013 Unesco Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

A palace concert

On Sunday, the TAT's Lop Buri Office invites interested persons to wear traditional costumes to a symphony orchestra concert entitled "Lop Buri Fantasy Concert To Commemorate The 333rd Anniversary Of The Lawo Thani -- France Relationship" at Phra Narai Ratchaniwet Palace, Muang district of Lop Buri province.

Besides the free concert which will begin at 5pm, the celebrations include a seminar on the glory of Lop Buri, or Lawo, during the reign of King Narai the Great in the 17th century, a Thai silk fashion show, a light and sound show and cultural performances.

Contact the TAT's Lop Buri Office at 036-770-096/7.
