From Friday to Sunday, the "191st Anniversary Of The Establishment Of Wat Prayurawongsawat" celebrations will take place at the temple in Thon Buri from 5-10pm.
The event will showcase diverse cultures in its nearby Kadee Cheen community. Various local dishes and prized local products will be available for sale. Cultural performances, cooking contests and other activities will be held.
Wat Prayurawongsawat, or Wat Prayoon, was built by Somdej Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawong (Dis Bunnag), a top-level bureaucrat, and later bestowed to King Rama III as a royal temple. The restoration of the temple's 60.5m-high main stupa won the Award of Excellence among the 2013 Unesco Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
