A teenager missing from home for months was found in a cannabis factory in the Valleys

A missing teenager from London was found in a house in the Valleys being used as a cannabis factory.

The boy, who'd been missing since August, was discovered when South Wales Police raided a property in Tonypandy following concerns it was being used to hide a drugs operation.

Officers also arrested three men who were trying to escape out of the window when they arrived.

Local residents had contacted the police after becoming suspicious about what was happening at the address. Evidence found at the first scene led officers to a second cannabis factory further up the Rhondda valley in Treherbert.

The cannabis plants at both addresses were seized by police and measures were put in place for the vulnerable teen "to ensure his safety and wellbeing".

Chief Inspector Anthony Moyle said: “Thanks to information from the community we took two sophisticated cannabis factories out of business this week.

“Many may not realise the reality of the suffering behind organised criminal activities, but it is clear and very present in our communities.

“Anybody who suspects cannabis is being grown in their community should contact us immediately.”

A spokesman for the force added that two men had been charged with cannabis cultivation and enquiries are continuing.
