A teary Dwight Howard had an inspirational message for fans after winning the NBA title

Dwight Howard is a NBA champion. Let that sink in for a second.

Pretty wild, right?

Howard, of course, was a star from pretty much the moment he stepped into the NBA with the Orlando Magic in 2004. He’s an 8-time All-Star, an 8-time All-NBA selection, a 3-time Defensive Player of the Year winner and has many more accolades on his resume.

Those all mostly came from the beginning of his career because the past few years have seen Howard bouncing around to different teams and becoming a role player, and a small one at that.

Before the start of this season he signed a one-year deal with the Lakers, knowing he would again be a small role player on a team built around many other players. Howard dove into his role and did everything that was asked of him and flourished with the Lakers.

Now he’s a champion and he shared an emotional message to fans after the game, telling them to never give up on themselves.

There’s some bad language here so if that’s not your thing then run for the hills:

Now that’s awesome. Congrats to Dwight.
