A tall man with a big heart, recalls co-star Gajendra

ROHTAK: Praveen Kumar Sobti aka Bhim of iconic Mahabharat TV serial who died due to cardiac arrest on Monday night, was a tall man with a big heart who never lagged behind in helping his junior artists. This is how Gajendra Chauhan aka Yudishthira, co-artist of Praveen Kumar Sobti, remembers him while paying tribute.

Gajendra Chauhan is currently the vice-chancellor of Rohtak's Pandit Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing & Visual Arts. Talking to TOI about his association with Sobti, he said he had spoken to 'Bhaji' two days before, wherein he told that he was not keeping well after a spinal injury.

"Our friendship started during our work in BR Chopra's Mahabharat where I played the role of Yudishthira. As time passed, our friendship grew thicker and I never forgot to visit him during my visit to Delhi and he never let me go without his hospitality with sumptuous food," Gajendra added.

Gajendra Chauhan said that Praveen was kind-hearted and he would take good care of junior team members working on the TV serial and would often pay school fees of their kids.

"He never believed in coming to limelight for doing any yeoman's job but remained grounded about his generosity," Gajendra added. He said that Praveen, aka Bheem, was very fond of sweets and during lunch time while working on Mahabharat, he would pick up the entire sweet container and relish it alone. "We would tease him for his weakness for sweets and he would never mind even when he was older than me," Gajendra added.
