A swarm of bees sent the Rangers bullpen running for cover

For some reason, bees love the Los Angeles Angels. There is no other explanation.

The past few seasons have seen numerous Angels spring training and regular season games interrupted by bees. It happened again on Sunday, and the Rangers bullpen wasn’t exactly amused.

Heading into the fifth inning of the game in Anaheim, Texas pitcher Kyle Bird was trying to warm up in the bullpen as a swarm of bees settled in around the left-field fence and stands.

Bird eventually had to retreat to the dugout while the rest of the pen jumped on the turf near the outfield rocks. It was not a pleasant experience for anyone around left field.

So many bees.

The action would be delayed for several minutes as the players and fans looked to get away from the swarm. The Angels’ Hansel Robles resorted to covering himself with a bunch of towels. Whatever works.

Despite the bees, the Angels would win, 7-2. Mike Trout, who is almost certainly impervious to bee stings, hit a home run in his fourth straight game.
