'A statement' - Bolton Wanderers fans give verdict on team news vs Plymouth Argyle

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt had made three changes to his side for this evening's clash against Plymouth Argyle and made a couple of surprises with his team selection.

Joel Dixon keeps his place as goalkeeper, while there are changes in front of him in the Wanderers back four.

George Johnston is partnered in the heart of defence by Alex Baptiste, while Harry Brockbank lines up at right-back and Liam Gordon is left-back.

In central midfield, MJ Williams will anchor the engine room, with Kieran Lee and Josh Sheehan alongside him.

In the front three this evening for Bolton will be Lloyd Isgrove on the right, Amadou Bakayoko through the middle, and Dapo Afolayan on the left wing.

On the bench this evening for Wanderers are Matt Gilks, Nathan Delfouneso, Eoin Doyle, Antoni Sarcevic, Will Aimson, Elias Kachunga and George Thomason.

Reacting to the team news on Twitter, a common topic among Wanderers fans is the decision to put Doyle and Sarcevic, the latter of whom has been carrying an ankle injury, to the bench.

And many have had their say on the decision, but are generally pleased with the team that will start this evening's encounter.

Andrew Broome wrote: "I like the line up tbh. It’s a statement from the gaffer dropping both Sarcevic and Doyle, and that’s what was needed after Saturday. The more important statement will be from those on the pitch, though. We need them to give 110% for 90 mins tonight. Such a tough game this."

@JakoBwfc posted: "Finally get to see Baka up front. Can't complain with this at all."

Sam Evans wrote: "Evatt’s been brave with that selection! I can understand Doyle being benched but unless Sarce is still carrying the injury I’d have started him."

Shoaib Khan wrote: "Dropping both Sarce and Doyle is a bold move."

Martin Pendlebury wrote: "Great to have Lee back."

Chris McKeown wrote: "Couple of shocks in there."

Janet Jackson wrote: "I’ll call it before kick off looks good to me."

Kieran Greenhalgh wrote: "Agree with Doyle not been great so far this season but Sarcevic shouldn't off been dropped."

Ian Eccleshare wrote: "May be the strongest front 6 this year. Happy with Baptiste and Johnstone"
