A sporting chance for The Sportsman

The Sportsman may yet be saved by its original backers. Though the daily betting paper is under financial administration, there is renewed optimism that investment will be in place within 10 days. According to a Financial Times report, the ailing title could be rescued by original backers, such as Dermot Desmond, and Zac and Ben Goldsmith. One of the administrators, Peter Kubik, estimates that between £1m and £2m would be needed to secure the future of the newspaper and its website. That seems on the low side to me, but I guess the guy knows what he's talking about. (Via FT.com)
