A Spitfire will fly over Greater Manchester this weekend - this is when and where you can see it

A Spitfire aircraft will fly over Greater Manchester this weekend to raise money for the NHS.

The aircraft is set to fly over the region's hospitals on Sunday in a bid to raise funds for NHS Charities Together.

If the weather allows, the Spitfire will take off from Duxford Airfield at 10am, before flying over the midlands and Lancashire, then heading to Greater Manchester.

From 2pm, it will fly over hospitals in Rochdale, Bolton, Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Stockport.

The route has been planned as part of a campaign to raise money for NHS Charities Together to mark the service's 72nd birthday.

Friends and family of NHS workers can say thank you for their support during the COVID-19 pandemic by nominating their name to be written upon the Spitfire.

There is room for 80,000 names which will be added to the aircraft.

Nominations can be made on a JustGiving page set up by the Aircraft Restoration Company here.

Here's when and where the aircraft can be spotted in Greater Manchester on Sunday:

2:37pm - Rochdale Infirmary

2.42pm - Royal Bolton Hospital

2.45pm - North Manchester General Hospital

2.47pm - Salford Royal

2.49pm - Trafford General Hospital

2.53pm - Wythenshawe Hospital

2.55pm - Stepping Hill Hospital
