Central Group and Chaipattana Foundation have introduced Phitsanulok 80 rice under the Sap-Pan brand as a new product that will be shelved at Tops Supermarkets in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai from January.

The collaboration is one of Central Tham's sustainability projects for building strong communities and promoting their agricultural produce.

The launch took place at Chaipattana Foundation's Highland Agriculture Research and Development Project in Fang, Chiang Mai.

Project director Anutra Wannaviroj welcomed Busaba Chirathivat, executive vice-president for corporate communications at Central Group, and Montree Kanokpongsakorn, assistant vice-president at Central Food Retail, who along with Central employees had hands-on experience in rice harvesting and winnowing.

With an intermediate-to-low glycemic index (GI) of only 59.5, the healthy Phitsanulok 80 rice is suitable even for people with diabetes or obesity.
