A snowy field astonishingly robbed Hannover player of a certain goal

Sunday’s Bundesliga match between Hannover and Bayer Leverkusen didn’t present the best conditions for soccer.

Heavy snow storms slammed the city of Hannover, but it was far from a home-field advantage for Hannover’s Genki Haraguchi.

In the 34th minute, Haraguchi had a clear look at goal. He did everything right. He tracked the ball through the snowy conditions while making his run. He beat the goalkeeper. He sent a shot with decent pace right towards the middle of goal.

And still, he didn’t score. That was because the snow had other plans. The ball was stopped in its tracks right at the goal line.

That was beyond cruel. Also, funny.

To add insult to injury, Hannover ended up losing, 3-2. For a team trying to stave off the relegation playoff, that lost point could make a huge difference.

Hannover can’t catch any breaks in 2019.
