
A plum blossom is seen blooming Monday at the Kofu Local Meteorological Office in Kofu. The office announced on the day that plum trees in the city had started blooming, five days earlier than in an average year and 12 days earlier than last year. Staff confirmed that five or six flowers had bloomed on a white plum tree at the office that is used as the standard. "We've had a succession of clear, warm days, which may have caused the flowers to bloom early," an official in charge said.
