A side-by-side comparison of Brian Kelly saying ‘family’ in case you need proof of his fake southern accent

Brian Kelly turned into a completely different person as soon as he touched down in the state of Louisiana.

After dipping out on Notre Dame in the middle of their push for the College Football Playoff, the coach put down his roots in LSU. And, with that, he apparently picked up a southern accent?

It’s not a very good southern accent. In fact, it’s incredibly bad. He doesn’t sound southern at all. Don’t believe me? Well, there’s proof out there and the internet was kind enough to perform a bit of an investigation for the public.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington put together a side-by-side video of Kelly saying the word “family.” Once during his farewell meeting with Notre Dame and once during his initial speech at LSU.

The difference is stark. And very, very bad.

He attempted to turn family into fay-am-ly and it just sounds ridiculous. It sounds like he watched a YouTube tutorial on how to give yourself a drawl. Yes, it’s that bad.

Going to need to practice that a bit more before his next public appearance if he’s going to keep this up.

Hopefully, for all of our sakes, he just drops it.
