Enzo Maresca has spoken publicly for the first time since being sent off against Liverpool.

The Chelsea manager was shown a second yellow card after leaving his technical area to celebrate with his players by the corner flag following Estevao’s 95th-minute winner at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Maresca will now serve a touchline ban when Chelsea visit Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on October 18.

In line with Premier League regulations, Maresca was unable to conduct his post-match media duties following the impressive 2-1 win over Liverpool.

In his place, assistant head coach Willy Caballero spoke to television broadcasters as well as conducting the post-match press conference.

Caballero passed on a message of praise to the players on behalf of Maresca.

On Monday, Maresca posted on social media as he spoke publicly for the first time since the red card.

“Winning at the last moment was a beautiful joy for all of us,” he said.

“It was a shame not to be present at the final whistle to celebrate with our wonderful fans. Now recovery focus and energy in what we can do better.”

Chelsea’s win over Liverpool took them to 11 points from their first seven games of the season.

The Blues sit seventh in the table, a point off sixth-place Crystal Palace and five points behind leaders Arsenal going into the international break.
