A second sinkhole has appeared in Manchester

A sinkhole in Manchester (Dana Sorley)

Another sinkhole has emerged in Manchester, less than three weeks after one appeared on a busy main road in the city.

The second sinkhole is on Paddock Street, Ardwick, running parallel to Mancunian Way - the location of the original 40-foot sinkhole which developed on 14 August following severe flooding.

According to a reporter for Manchester Evening News, the road is partially closed off to traffic.

Mancunian Way was only reopened yesterday. Although both lanes of the westbound carriageway were running as usual from early in the morning, no date has been set for the eastbound carriageway to reopen, according to Salford Online.
