Nottingham Forest record signing Joao Carvalho is “in the thoughts of Olympiacos”.
But reports in Greece say a decision has not yet been made by the fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club over whether to make a move for the midfielder.
Carvalho has been linked with a £15m switch to the Greek giants ahead of the January transfer window - just as he was in the summer - as well as Turkish side Trabzonspor.
But Greek media outlet Sport 24 claim a loan deal could be a possibility.
They say it is “not unlikely” Olympiacos are keen on bringing in the Portuguese next month, adding: “There is Joao Carvalho in the thoughts of Olympiacos. But not a decision.”
The report adds, Olympiacos “have reason to think positively of a deal with Joao Carvalho”.
And it goes on to say: “We reiterate that there is no decision at this time. But a scenario is visible, which has probably been discussed.”
The 22-year-old has made 16 appearances so far this season under Sabri Lamouchi, having missed the first few weeks of the campaign due to injury.
Prior to Saturday’s 4-0 thumping by Sheffield Wednesday, he had been left out of Forest’s starting XI for their previous two games.
But head coach Lamouchi said there was nothing to read into that team selection, amid rumours about Carvalho’s future.

Asked if he was worried about losing players such as Carvalho next month, Lamouchi said: “I don’t want to talk about rumours.
“Joao Carvalho, like the others, is very professional. He has quality and he can help us a lot.
“He knows exactly what I am waiting for from him.
“I don’t have any problem with him or any of the players.
“He is a Forest player.”
