Ramón Laureano drove in two first-inning runs to give the A’s an early spark in Atlanta, but that was all the offense Oakland mustered in another rough showing for a disappointing lineup in a 3-2 loss to the Braves on Tuesday.
With the game tied 2-2 in the seventh, light-hitting outfielder Guillermo Heredia greeted reliever Lou Trivino by launching a solo home run that ultimately rewarded Braves starter Kyle Wright with a win. The home run was only Heredia’s seventh hit in 49 at-bats this season and bumped Trivino’s ERA up to 6.91.
A’s starter Cole Irvin pitched into the sixth inning at Truist Park and took a no-decision as the left-hander gave up a pair of home runs to Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr.
After the first three A’s hitters –Tony Kemp, Elvis Andrus and Laureano, reached against Wright with singles, Oakland recorded only two hits the rest of the way.
The A’s lost six straight games to close out their 10-game homestand at the Coliseum and their seven-game losing streak is the team’s second longest of the season. Oakland lost nine straight games from April 29-May 8.
