A's snap losing streak with 13-2 rout of Orioles

BALTIMORE _ Opposing teams still do not seem to be getting the memo on Ramon Laureano's arm and the A's are totally fine with that.

The A's outfielder struck again with another highlight-reel throw to nab a runner trying to score at home plate in the third inning of Tuesday's 13-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The win snapped the A's four-game losing streak and was their first victory of the season away from the Oakland Coliseum.

Richie Martin, a former A's top prospect, was the latest victim to get Laureano'd. Having led off the inning with a walk, Martin tried to score from second base on a hit to center field by Joey Rickard. Laureano picked up the liner on a hop and wasted no time putting all of his force on the throw home, which took a bounce before reaching catcher Josh Phegley for a swipe tag on Martin.

Laureano's outfield assist was his fourth in 14 games this season. The first three all came over a four-game series against the Boston Red Sox last week. He now has 13 assists in 62 career games, by far the most by a player in Major League Baseball over that span. The next closest has five.

The A's needed a lengthy outing from Brett Anderson after A's starters failed to go past three innings the previous two nights and the left-hander delivered.

Anderson worked at a fast pace and kept his pitch count low by inducing several ground balls early in the count. He held the Orioles to six hits, all singles, and did not allow a walk through six scoreless innings before the Orioles finally broke through in the seventh with a two-out, two-run double by Pedro Severino. Still, the A's will take Anderson's 6 2/3 innings for a bullpen that was in need of rest.

After Josh Phegley reached on a bad throw to first base that would have ended the second inning, Marcus Semien made the Orioles pay for the error with a three-run homer off John Means. It was Semien's second of the season, capping off a five-run inning.

Jurickson Profar added on in the seventh with a solo home run, his first as a member of the A's. He drove in three more in the next two innings, matching career highs with four hits and five RBIs on the night.
