CLEVELAND _ The A's were stymied by Corey Kluber all day, but once they chased him out, the offense showed just how quickly they can turn things around with just a couple of swings.
After Kluber departed from the game having tossed seven shutout innings, it only took two swings of the bat from Jed Lowrie and Khris Davis to tie the game in what eventually ended up a 6-3 A's victory over the Indians in 11 innings.
Lowrie's two-run homer off Neil Ramirez came after Mark Canha had reached on a single to put the A's within a run, and just two pitches later, Davis obliterated a fastball from Ramirez into the left-field bleachers for the game-tying run. It should come as no surprise that the three runs came in the eighth inning. The A's entered the day leading the majors in runs scored in the eighth, pushing that number to 64.
Injected with new life after the three-run eighth, Lou Trivino and Blake Treinen held the Indians down with three shutout innings before Stephen Piscotty blasted a two-run homer to left off Josh Tomlin in the 11th to complete another late-inning comeback. In the A's last 19 wins, nine of those have seen them score the winning run in the eighth inning or later.
